MiPEHS - Michigan PFAS Exposure and Health Study
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Division of Environmental Health (DEH) is seeking the services to assist with the implementation of environmental health studies. In 2017, the Michigan per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Action Response Team (MPART) was created by an executive directive to investigate sources and locations of PFAS to protect Michigan water and public health. Since MPART’s formation, MDHHS has begun conducting studies on PFAS exposure and health effects.
These environmental health studies include exposure assessments for environmental chemicals, health surveillance, biomonitoring, and epidemiological studies.
Findings from these studies will be used to inform public health activities. Biomonitoring can aid decision makers by identifying at-risk populations and informing interventions to reduce or eliminate harmful exposures. Exposure assessments can help identify factors that contribute to chemical exposure. Study findings will contribute to generalizable knowledge about environmental chemical exposure and health.
